Magna Karter

This project was created by myself, Daniel Wright and Luke Nockles as our entry to the 72 hour game development competition in November 2006. The game takes many ideas from the classic SkyRoads game with the addition of fully 3D graphics and new gameplay mechanics.

The rules of the competition stated that the whole game, including all code, art and sound must be created in the 72 hours, using no code from before the competition (however most freely available APIs were allowed.) Our team comprised of 3 programmers. Daniel took responsibility for coding the sound support, as well as creating the sound assets. Luke worked on the world model and level design, and I created the graphics engine.

The graphics supported such features as parallax mapping and shadow mapping. The game, as it was at the end of the 72 hours, can be found at the 72 hour game development competition site. A video of the finished game can be seen here.

We endeavour to continue development of Magna Karter to produce a more polished game, and to include the features that couldn't be included in the time limit.
